The Senate of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has banned position of class representatives within the institution.
The decision, reached during a Special meeting held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, entails the proscription of the position of Class Representative roles.
The announcement, conveyed through a memo signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Gabriel O. Egbe, indicates that this ban takes immediate effect.
The decision stems from the observed undesirable activities of class representatives within the university.
All class representatives are urged to take note of this directive as failure to comply may result in adverse consequences.
Additionally, lecturers are now advised to interact directly with students without the involvement of any intermediary.
The memo emphasizes strict compliance with the Senate’s decision, urging Provosts, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Institutes, and Heads of Departments to ensure adherence.
