The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has officially matriculated over 9000 fresh students during its 48th matriculation ceremony.

Prof. Florence Obi emphasized the importance of adhering to the university’s rules and regulations while encouraging students to shun anti-social behaviours like cultism, rape, fighting, theft, and drunkenness.

She stressed the significance of maintaining discipline and integrity throughout their academic journey.

In her address, Prof. Obi highlighted three essential points for the students:

  1. She urged students to perceive their academic journey as a race towards life fulfilment, emphasizing the need to abide by the university’s guidelines and seek inspiration from lecturers and peers.
  2. Prof. Obi encouraged students to view their lecturers and peers as sources of motivation and support in their academic pursuits.
  3. She reiterated that success is not a competition but a collective effort, urging students to strive for excellence and support one another in their academic endeavours.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the newly admitted students for completing the screening process and gaining admission to UNICAL.

She welcomed them to the university community and assured them of a conducive learning environment filled with personal and academic growth opportunities.
