LASU appoints new Librarian

The Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the appointment of Dr. Omawunmi Orighomisan Makinde as the 5th Substantive Librarian of the University.

This appointment is a significant milestone for LASU, marking the beginning of a new era of leadership for the University Library.

Dr. Makinde is a highly accomplished librarian with a wealth of experience in the field.

She has served as the Acting Dean of the School of Library and Archival Studies at LASU since 2022, and she has also held the position of Deputy Librarian at the University Library.

Her expertise in library management, information science, and digital technologies will be invaluable in her new role as Librarian.

The Governing Council expressed confidence in Dr. Makinde’s ability to lead the University Library to new heights.

“Dr. Makinde is a visionary and innovative leader with a proven track record of success,” said the Chairman of the Governing Council.”

“We are confident that she will continue to build upon the strong foundation of the University Library and make it an even more valuable resource for our students, faculty, and staff.”

Dr. Makinde’s appointment will take effect on December 1, 2023.

She will succeed Prof. Emmanuel Layi Adebayo, whose tenure as a Librarian ends on November 30, 2023.

The LASU community congratulates Dr. Makinde on her appointment and wishes her all the best in her new role.
